How do I use a .bsg file?

4 Speed Automatic Transmission

uploaded by Dzytizz 1 year ago

Title says it all =D. It took me about 2-3 hours to complete, had to learn whole principle of automatic transmissions. This contraption has 4 gears, tried to make a torque converter with steam but it has a huge power loss. No god tools are needed, gravity is optional to make it more lagless and reliable. To use press number 1,2,3,4 in upper number row to set it up. Controls:
1 - toggle 1st gear.
2 - toggle 2nd gear.
3 - toggle 3rd gear.
4 - toggle 4th gear.

Pretty damn cool. Automatic, though? How so?

Thanks !^^ As you know Besiege hasn't got any type of sensor block atm so automatic contraptions isn't really possible. So all I got in mind by saying "automatic" is that this model represents how an actual automatic transmission in a car works, not that it's actually auomatic by itself ^^

Ah, right. I should mention that it could actually be possible. Just look up "Lego automatic gearbox", there are some great examples using things like centrifugal tachometers and differentials that actually do act like resistance sensors. So far I haven't managed anything due to besiege's limitations with friction and power loss, but it feels close. Scaling should make it almost easy.

Oh yeah I have seen few of them before too. Later when I have some more free time on my hands I will try to create something like that. It kinda sounds like a challenge now ^^
