How do I use a .bsg file?

Automatic transmission without planetary - car

uploaded by oziboy 4 weeks ago

Replica of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j_sLMvuNFE

Doesn't want to run well, I think it's skipping gears somewhere, and I don't understand how it works so I can't fix it

The engine would run but the wheels never wanted to spin up if it was on the ground, I'm probably overlooking something

I put it on a powered wheel right now and attached a differential

It's time to get automatic transmissions people, it'll help the engine development in besiege quite a lot, even if its heavy it wouldn't matter

Instructions:
P to drop, powered wheel goes off automatically
Arrow left/right to steer

Ahh I actually tried to make the same design from the same video but I failed ^^ Well done

Yeah thanks

I haven't been able to find out what the hell is going on though, when I use the engine and actually get it running it just behaves like the wheels are detached, but I know they aren't because the vehicle kicks and the engine gets a lot of friction going on

I'll try again with different engine layouts and maybe a different transmission alltogether.

I've gotten one of these running before as well - with lego and with besiege. Turns out that using friction to change gears is, well, awful - think of the inefficiency. Still, it's really cool to see your take on it.

Bingo, found the issue!

The transmission is bad because it wants to start in a high gear, which the engine can't take, and lowering the gears take a little bit of force, which the engine can't provide because of the friction

Or its just jumping gears smh

I've finally made another, simplified version with same working principle(Atleast when it comes to the video)
Check it out if you're interested ^^: http://besiegedownloads.com/machine/56752
