[WIP] Shrapnel V8 (4-stroke)

Work in progress shrapnel based V8 engine (no idea why I called it B8 but it probably has a reason, this is an old creation I just modified and actually just rebuilt from 0)

The issue currently is the balance, the timing is right but there's a big gap I need to fill, I already know how so that'll be fixed next upload probably

The engine runs but very unstable (even with zero gravity), I see a bit potential in this, if I space out the pistons a bit and move the cannons in closer so they don't disturb the other pistons, I might be able to get some unseen besiege RPM going

This was actually a pretty nice looking engine until I had to add the valvetrain :/
It kinda forced me to remove the flywheel but I suppose I'll put it back sooner or later

Indestructability, infinite ammo, zero gravity
Hold right and up until joints stop moving
It can only run in one direction, the valves should come out from the middle top and go down from the outside (the pistons go counter clockwise when facing the engine from the starting block)
If it doesn't run give it a nudge with the hand tool

P.s. I hate the besiege cog system so much, there's like 7.5° loss of rotation so I need to do the magical linkage
and that's not the only way it's messing with my engine designs :/

Nice design but may I ask, what is the purpose of steering hinges? Couldn't medium cogs/hinges be moved/rotated in design itself?

In previous engine builds I ran into issues regarding stability and didn't want to mess around with it any longer so now I use this to make it more precise and easy

Besides, I make a base design and then adjust everything so instead of going through the pain of calculating it all and having to rotate everything bit by bit I can do it at once

Calculation sure does look nicer and has less drag when done properly though :/

The issue is centering the piston hinge, if that isn't done well the piston itself has more travel, causing more drag

Also, fixing this is seriously hard, I can't get the timings straight, I just can't seem to balance it, I think I did wrong by adding cogs to the valvetrain to invert the rotation

I mean it runs, it runs alright under zero gravity but it feels so bad it accelerates suddenly very quickly then goes slow again, sometimes stopping and catching up again

Check this old engine out for a nice little valve trains. It has a slight bind, that prevented me from building more like this, but with mods etc now, it would be a great cannon engine. Im gonna do that this week
