I use online polygon/triangle/whatever calculators to do it for me, much easier than designing it in inventor or CAD first

I'm trying to return to the game, currently building a clock but it's getting heavy on my system and I barely made 2 cogs of 60 teeth each :P

I might do a remake of my commer knocker or a replica BMW R series boxer engine

Or make an automata but I need ideas

I didn't add cv's to the rear axle as it doesn't need them, I was going for a fixed axle design oziboy/ @Oziboy (I forgot how tagging works it's been a while lol) uhm yea I've given up on the cv idea as of when I made this comment they're getting in the way of other advancements and we simply don't have the blocks needed (I haven't updated my besiege so I don't know if they've added new blocks that might be better) but yea I kinda left besiege I'm busy at college with Acad at the moment and not inventor but when I get back to doing inventor I'll probably get back into besiege

This is close, a few things are wrong

The CV joint, I hope you know it's angled and it's spinning in weird directions
The issue is that you placed the joint the wrong way

There is no joint on the rear wheels = no independent suspension

My main concern is the joints are wrongly designed and because of this they are buggy

But it's really close

Looks simple, I'll check it out when I'm home

But tbh it can be done faster

I have tutorial on my page for making a small engine. Use the scale mod, but you have to move the braces bc they dont connect right at small scaled.
for 1/4 scale (.25) they need to move .38 or so closer to the object to conect.
at half scale they should move .25 blocks to connect

Ill make a tutorial today :D

I've already designed on that works like the bmw x5 cv joint but it's massive (7 blocks in diameter) other that it works like a beauty

Looking good, my problem with my design are the front wheels

it's not the RTC because honestly that's freaking easy

the issue is, I have no single idea how I'm supposed to make the wheels turn around their own axis

and it really really bothers me

RTC isn't even important right now

Also, we have to design a CV joint that doesn't require the mod

You will need the cv joints mod it is available here

btw sorry for my style of uploading (multiple creations in a row) but data is expensive so gotta make the most of it lol

I skip using small braces and just make the creation itself huge

It's just small detail opposed to a creation that has much more value if it works, and resizing it would be the second step.

You brought me on a few ideas with this creation, actually

After sleeping over it I think we should step off the idea of CV joints for now, it's bottlenecking our reasoning because it already exists
I realized adding suspension, independently, to the rear wheels in this creation is very simple

All you have to do is rise it slightly further, or make it adapt, and add another cog that's connected to the holder for the rear wheel's cog

It creates bulk but I suppose it'll work

I'll reupload this creation with what I mean and link it

About front wheels, good, I suppose I'm going to have to make my own type of wheel in order to make it actually spin around its own axis... after 4 wheels I have to lower the speed because I also try to make sure it's a realistic one (as if it were a real one, as in, there is air inside of it, you get my point)

I'll just add suspension for now

Oziboy my driveshaft is very similar, I have tried something similar to supply power to the wheels from the diff but I've only recently started modding and I'm still struggling with the bracing at extremely small sizes

When i get a chance I'll see what I can come up with, haven't really looked at this machine in the past month

You should have used a cardan in order to couple the wheels to the differential, and then added a suspension on the wheels independently

But there is an issue, a cardan makes an elliptic shape and I have no idea how to fix that

Yea oziboy, last night I managed to get a much better quadrupedal movement going the kinda pushes down and back but still runs into similar issues, like you said the arc motion seems to be the problem still

I'm going to see what I can do to give it a better movement shape... it's not going to run if it's an arc
